Emergencies and helplines

It isn't easy to cope with big feelings, hard times or complicated problems. It isn't easy to cope with violence or abuse. Sometimes we turn to friends and family. Other times we want a different perspective. On this page we share links to information about helplines. In an emergency always call triple zero (000).

.

Who to call and when

In Australia, the number to call in an emergency is triple zero (000). Calling 000 can make some people feel nervous or scared.

You can learn what happens when you call emergency services on the Neve page A guide to calling triple zero (000) (internal link).

Helpline workers can share wise advice and listen without judgement. They can put you in touch with helpful services. If you don’t know where to turn, a helpline can be a good option.

Helplines are phone and text services that help with a range of issues

These could include violence and abuse, issues around disabilities, mental health difficulties, and more.

Helpline workers listen without judging you. They can connect you to practical support.

You can get ready to call a helpline in the Neve section Helplines (internal link).

You can find a list of helplines on the Neve page Helpline directory (internal link).
